The 2009 Silverado Hybrid engine has a cast aluminum block with cast iron cylinder heads. The displacement for the hybrid is 364 cubic inches and 5967 cc's. With variable valve timing, two valves per cylinder and an overhead valve for the valve train, the hybrid will still be one-step ahead of the rest. The ignition system consists of low resistance spark plugs and coil near plug ignition with iridium core spark plugs.

The Vortec 6.0L V8 engine offers sequential fuel injection and Active Fuel Management. The compression ratio is 10.8 to 1 with 332/ 248 horsepower at 5100 reps per minute. The maximum speed for the engine will be six thousand reps per minute. The engine has a fast response O2 sensor, return less fuel rail, Quick Sync 58X ignition and a close coupled catalytic converter.

   The transmission is a 2-mode continuous electric ratio hybrid that has four fixed gears. The first gear is 3.69 to 1, second is 1.70 to 1, third is 1.00 to 1 and the fourth is 0.73 to 1. The final drive ratio is 3.08 to 1. The battery for the hybrid system is 300 volts while the battery for the accessories is 12 volts. The power steering is 42 volts and 300 volts for the air-conditioning and transmission for the electronic system.

The exterior of the 2009 Silverado Hybrid is what people are going to like. The wheelbase is 143.5 inches. The length of the vehicle is 230.2 inches with a width of 80 inches.
